June 19th, 2014 - Howard Moore Competes in ASCS Speedweek Action

1Howard Moore entered his first-ever event at Lawton Speedway (Lawton, Oklahoma) on Wednesday night in his #40 Short Man Racing / Howard Moore Racing / Maxim Sprint Care in the second round of the 2nd annual Bob Westphal Memorial Cup.

A stout field of 44 entries entered the event, and Howard drew a big number at the pill draw, which left him starting deep in a heat race grid. To make matters worse he battled the setup throughout the night before seeing his outing come to an end in his b-main.

Thursday night action took Howard to Creek County (Kelleyville, Oklahoma), where the facility overcame morning rain to host the event. Moore started his outing by finishing fourth, which sent him to the b-main, where he started fifth. Early in the consolation event he slipped to the sixth spot before rebounding to as high as the fourth position. Howard began challenging for a transfer spot, but bad luck struck when he hooked a rut in turn one, which caused him to bicycle hard, ending his night.
