April 29, 2017 - East Tennessee Double Shot for Howard Moore
1Howard took his familiar #40 Sprinter into battle over the weekend in a pair of United Sprint Car Series (USCS) events at a pair of lightning-fast, East Tennessee ovals.

Action opened on Friday evening at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tennessee) as 17 entries went into battle at the 3/8-mile oval. After finishing 7th in his heat race, Moore rolled off the feature grid in the 13th-starting spot. He would advance five spots to finish 8th in the caution-ridden finale.

Saturday night found the action shifting to the high-banked, 1/2-mile oval at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee). Twenty competitors looked to take a shot at claiming the win, and Howard began his night by advancing from the 4th-starting spot in his heat race to a 2nd-place finish. As a result he started 4th in the feature, and ran in the Top 5 for much of the main event, before brake issues relegated him to a 6th-place finish.

His feature performance locked him into the 8th-starting spot for the finale. Early in the race Howard was running 6th, when a lap car got sideways in front of him.
