1Howard Moore was able to dodge the wet weather to open his Memorial day weekend of racing on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) with the United Sprint Car Series (USCS).

With 15 entries in action, Howard raced to a fifth-place finish in his heat race, which locked him into the eighth-starting position for the 20th annual Ival Cooper Memorial at the 1/4-mile oval.

Unfortunately his night came to an early end on lap 11 after a broken front-end forced him pitside.

Sunday evening found Howard competing with the Built Ford Tough Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) Sprint Cars at Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Illinois). Twenty-three drivers took to the 1/4-mile oval, and Howard started his night by qualifying sixth fastest.

Via the invert he started third in his heat race before finishing fourth, which sent him to the redraw. In the redraw he received the fifth-starting spot.

Moore raced his way into the third spot late in the race before bad luck struck. Another competitor made contact with him, which cut his right-rear tire down with just five laps to go. The flat tire ended his night.
