Moore Claims 305 c.i. Sprint Victory at Riverside
Howard Moore made his first 305 c.i. Sprint Car start of the 2020 season on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway and turned it into a feature win.
The triumph came behind the wheel of the Chad Jones Racing / Melvin Holcomb Motorsports No. 29 Jimmy Smith Pawn & Speed / Black Jack Express / Pro Lite Performance Sprinter.
“With no 360 Sprint Car racing in the area, I didn’t know if I’d be doing any racing this weekend, but Chad Jones and Melvin Holcomb graciously offered to let me drive their car. It was a pretty grueling feature with the extreme heat, and then the cautions and even a delay for the lights going out, but we got the job done,” Moore said. “As always, I want to thank all of the fans and sponsors, who continue to support racing and make it possible for all of us. Without your support we couldn’t be doing this every week.”
Twenty-two 305 c.i. Winged Sprint Car racers converged on the famed, ¼-mile oval on Saturday night. Howard won his heat race from the second-starting spot, which positioned him third on the feature grid.
As the feature event went green, Moore immediately jumped into the second position before ultimately taking the lead on lap four. The caution laden feature was additionally slowed by a couple of red flags as well as a delay for the track’s lights going out. Despite the various hinderances, Howard was able to power to his first 305 c.i. Winged Sprint Car win of the year and his third triumph overall of the season.
Dale Howard, Eddie Gallagher, Jan Howard and Andy McElhannon completed the Top-5 finishers.
